Lita

Lita’s uncle worked at CBC as a mechanic, and in 2005 he called with news that CBC had a job opening that might be perfect for Lita. She applied and was hired to begin work for Kelly Thomas at the Elizabeth City location. Her uncle was right—the job was an excellent fit for her. In 2009, she moved to the Farmville location as a route settlement specialist, and from there moved up as an administrative team leader and then administrative services supervisor. Lita continues to rise to the challenge of the Coastal experience. “Every day at CBC is different. You never know what could come up, and that keeps it fun! I love that there is always something happening that I can’t plan—it has helped me be better at handling unexpected situations.”

The Coastal work environment has a big draw for Lita. “I stay with CBC because I love the people I work with. I love the family atmosphere and the opportunity to grow and learn. I utilize my college training each day, and my boss—she is my motivation. I don’t ever want to disappoint her. She pushes me, gives me drive, and always says, ‘Lita, you can do this.’ I love that she believes in me.”

Lita laughs as she shares a funny story about her CBC interview. “When I first got out of school and applied at CBC, I was so nervous in the interview that I just talked for about ten minutes straight. When I finally stopped, and took a breath, Tee smiled and looked at me and said, ‘Well, we can tell you’re a good communicator.’ It broke the ice, and I felt a lot more comfortable! From day one, the whole team at CBC has made me feel appreciated and respected, and I really love that.”
