Katie moved to Wilmington, NC, to go to college, and over a decade later, she’s still loving life in her coastal town. She landed an interview with CBC while in college, got on her bike, rode the short distance to the CBC office, and was hired on the spot as a part-time space planning analyst. Since then, she’s never looked back.
Katie worked part-time while she finished her degree and then worked full-time as a CBC sales coordinator from 2006 to 2014. She currently serves the CBC brands as a marketing analyst, working with brand teams and suppliers to drive success. Katie loves that the CBC environment has heart. “You don’t find this kind of work culture very often. It’s rare and truly second to none. As a family-owned business, it’s the best place to work. You’re not a number—and I feel like I work with my friends. I love coming to work at CBC.”
Katie cites her parents as a continued source of inspiration with their positive outlook in life. Her father was also in the distribution business, and now Katie brings the same upbeat attitude to everything she does at CBC, enjoying life with customers and learning from her colleagues. “Leon has also inspired me at work—he is my work family and always reinforces that it’s all in your attitude. ‘This is your only day,’ he says. ‘Make the most of it.’ He’s a steady force that keeps me going. I am so grateful for Leon and Audrey and others like Tee who get in the trenches with you.”
